Sex Therapy in Minneapolis is a blend of a lot of things! I definitely don’t see “one ideal client,” in my private practice in Minnesota. It varies, ranges, and changes depending on what the client is seeking sex therapy for. What is Holistic Health?

As a sex therapist in Minneapolis, whether I like it or not I am a holistic healer! You may be like say what Jackie? You don’t like holistic health? No no no, don’t get it twisted, I LOVE it! It’s my jam! As a holistic healer in the Twin Cities, and a sex therapist in Minneapolis, these niches go together pretty well. To me, holistic health is a balance of mind, body, soul work, blending of natural remedies, such as crystals, gemstone jewelry, essential oils, flowers, mindfulness, understanding food and lifestyle choices, while exploring what works for ourselves, and trusting our intuition when it comes to what heals ourselves. Holistic health means balancing of types of things we can do to better our overall health and wellness. For example, personally, I love being able to use meditation, chakra healing tools for balance, crystals, spiritual messages, tracking and learning about my habit energy, using essential oils be it rollers or inhalers to take a mini self-care moment for myself. As a therapist, I try my best to practice what I preach, and holistic health is very important to me.

What does a Holistic Sex Therapist Do?

As a holistic sex therapist, I incorporate tools in my sex therapy private practice that utilize various options for treatment. This all starts with my holistic sex therapy assessment, understanding medical, mental, physical, genetic, natural, self-care, and personal choices when it comes to sexual health. For me, practicing as a sex therapist in Minneapolis, I like to give folks options other than medication or pills through psychiatrist referrals, to help with overall sexual wellness. Most people don’t know this, but sexual struggles are 30% medical and the rest are 70% mental. This is why holistic sex therapy is needed in the field for more natural remedies, mental health counseling, sensuality by being in touch with our bodies, balancing better sex through mindfulness, and connecting with our sexual souls. Holistic sex therapy is about incorporating learning how to trust our minds, bodies, and souls to be in tune with what can help heal our unique individual selves. Holistic sex therapy is the connection between physical, sexual, medical, mental, spiritual, and all types of health! As a holistic sex therapist, I want to give you some tips, resources, and what you can do to help enhance your overall sexual libido. Please note, as a sex therapist I feel it is important to say, what may work for another person may or may not work for your sexual health journey.

Natural ways to increase sexual libido through holistic practices include these holistic tips below…

  • Tip Number One: Don’t eat like shit! Eating Habits is very important to consider for overall sexual health and self-care. If you eat like shit, chances are your sexual libido will decrease. Foods that help increase libido: Spinach, peppers, avocados, citrus fruits, bananas, berries, oysters, chicken, beef and pork, a glass of red wine, and dark chocolate. Of course, this sex therapist did not give a giant ass extensive list, there are more out there, and do what's best for you!


  • Tip Number Two: Use it before you lose it! What do I mean by this? Exercise! Your body is never going to be in the same state as it is today. The more you take care of your physical health, your sexual health will follow. The more blood flow in the body during exercise, the more blood flow to the genitals, which helps with overall sexual libido. Go from blood slow to a sexual flow!



  • Tip Number Three: Test Out Some Essential Oils for Holistic Health! Essential Oils for Sensuality and are sex therapist recommended include - Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Patchouli, Ylang Ylang, Clove, Clary Sage, Ginger, Vanilla, Cinnamon, Vetiver, Neroli & Geranium. If you have any cinnamon powder or vanilla extract in your home, it may not be a bad idea to test this idea out and add this to your foods. There are also Flower Essence - aka various blends with flower essential oils mixed with either water, various oils, or other ingredients - that can help increase sexual libido. Jasmine has been known as the love and sexual desire enhancer for essential oils. A lot of these flower essential oils also promote similar qualities in sexual health, in various ways.


  • Tip Number Four: Mix in Oils in Everyday Life! You may be like, okay Jackie, essential oils are my jam for holistic health and holistic sexuality, but how the fuck do I use these?? Fab question! Here are some of my favorite ways to incorporate essential oils in my day-to-day life to enhance sexual libido. Try using them in a Salt Bath, Create Diffuser Blends, Utilize Roller Balls on the Sacral Chakra Energy Points or Pressure Points of the face and or neck, Say an Affirmation while creating this ritual, or incorporate your favorites into a sensual massage for sexual self-care!


  • Number Five: Get Some Sparkly Sexy Crystals! There are tons of crystal healing stones people use for spirituality, sexual health, and overall mental health. Crystals have different types of energies to them, intentions, and healing properties. As a holistic sex therapist, I love being able to pair crystals with an intentional mindfulness-based practice with clients during sessions. Crystal Healing Stones for Sexual Health and Wellness: Carnelian, Orange Calcite, Sunstone, Emerald, Ruby, and others help balance the Sacral Chakra (right underneath/nearby the navel on the body). Incorporate these into mindfulness-based practices, meditation, wearing jewelry like bracelets, earrings, mala necklaces, or rings, place a crystal in the bra or pocket of pants are all great ways to balance. As a sex therapist, I love using crystals in my daily meditative and spiritual practices with oracle cards.


  • Tip Number Six: Mindfulness-Based Approaches! Better sex through mindfulness is a great book and tool to incorporate our sexual self-care practices. Slow down, touch your body, and be with your sensual self. Mindfulness doesn’t mean just meditating, it means being in the moment, without judgment of what’s coming up. As a holistic sex therapist, I like to call it, being rather than doing. Pacing ourselves with our bodies, minds, and sensual souls is important to understand before we let our partners touch us. That feels fucking shameful, and y’all know I’m not about the shame! Let’s get you to your shameless sexy self by saying, “I slay the bedroom game,” or “I am a sexual goddess,” or “I am learning about my body’s pleasure and it’s okay to explore.” Say it more! Affirmations may feel like a lot of work, but before you know it, you will build that sexual confidence you’ve been dreaming of. Holistic healing is an adventure to explore what works and what does not work for you. By jotting down some notes, you’re going to be able to more easily remember that information on what helps enhance sexual libido, where your pleasure points are on your body, what holistic tips which are turn-ons and turn-offs for sexual health, more to know about your holistic sexuality and self! May Jasmine flower essence isn’t for you, good take note of that, but maybe roses are, so you’re gonna wanna know and your sexual partner(s) will too!


  • Tip Number Ten: Mix & Match! As a sex therapist, it’s SO important that people in therapy are willing to change things up and try new things. When it comes to holistic sexuality, you can decide what feels right for you. Little by little, you’ll gain the steps and confidence to know what will help increase sexual libido, enhance pleasure, and focus on your sexual self-care more! Try mindfulness with a crystal and essential oils, test out guided imagery, or reflect on your sex life with a journal nearby. Explore what feels right to you in that moment by doing a mindfulness body scan of what is my mind, body, and soul want me to reflect on regarding my sexuality? Test it out and see where it leads you, trust your intuition!
