Hey Alexa, What causes a woman not to be sexually active?
Ahh this question, one you know all too well, you even asked Alexa to search for a Sex Therapist near me, typed into google Sex Therapy in Minneapolis, or even what’s women’s sexual dysfunction? Be it a friend, loved one, or colleague this is a question that you or someone has come across and asked at one time or another in your life. Well hear this, MOTHER FUCKING ANYTHING! Stressed? Yup. Burnout? Yup. COVID-19 Pandemic? Yup. Depression? Yup. Anxiety? Fuck Yea! Genetics? Yup. Taking care of Children? That’ll do it. Literally, anything can make a woman or person not feel horny or want to bend over for their partner(s). When thinking about what sexual problems and solutions are out there with Counseling in Minneapolis, just remember there can be a lot going on for a person.
What are the kinds of women sexual dysfunctions?
Are there sexual mental disorders?
Let me preface this with how sexist and genderist - is that a word? it is now! - the DSM-5 is and how badly we need a new manual. We’ve got Female Orgasmic Disorder, Female Genito Pelvic Pain, and Female Arousal Disorder. Yup, I’m not making this shit up, and these are the technical diagnoses for sex therapy in Minneapolis and sex therapists talk about in many conversations. It’s important to note that individuals or couples or poly folks may experience several sexual problems and solutions in their relationship and may not even meet criteria for any kind of sexual functioning diagnosis. People seek out Sex Therapy in Minneapolis because they may just want to increase overall sexual satisfaction and that’s okay too!
What is Female Orgasmic Disorder?
What are the sexual dysfunction symptoms?
Based on the DSM-5 book, the short version of it is, a woman is unable to achieve an orgasm or orgasmic sensations. Uh, if it’s penetrative sex alone and the woman has a vulva, no shit sherlock she’s not gonna be able to, that’s apart of the sexual problems and the solutions are to stimulate THE CLIT!! Most people don’t know that though…this is a disorder that could be considered lifelong or acquired over time.
Female Sexual Arousal Disorder, what is it?
What are the sexual dysfunction symptoms?
Reduction of sexual arousal or sexual activity, thoughts, fantasies, initiation of sex, sexual excitement, pleasure and more. Also, lifelong or acquire, and what’s important here is maybe a woman may be Asexual, meaning no longing for sex at all. Don’t get it twisted, that’s apart of sexual problems and solutions for this is providers to assess more and discuss Asexuality with clients. If you are a counselor in Minneapolis and don’t know what the hell you’re doing in this conversation, refer out to a Sex Therapist in Minneapolis instead.
What is Genito Pelvic Pain Disorder?
What are the sexual dysfunction symptoms?
Persistent difficulties with vaginal penetration, pelvic pain during intercourse attempts, fear or anxiety about pelvic pain in anticipation of sex, and tightening of the pelvic floor. Get it right, get it right, get it tight, but not that tight!! Sexual problems and solutions here are, most folks think 30 minute penetrative sex is normal. Nope! 7 minutes of penetrative sex is marathon sex, Emily Nagoski talks about this in her book, Come As You Are, highly recommend. Solution to this, when it doubt lube it out! Lube is amazing! We need it to help prevent pain, especially the first time when having sex, vulva owners y’all will thank me if you lube it up beforehand. There are more sexual problems and solutions with Genito pelvic pain, one being that this is normal, no it is absolutely not! Painful sex is never normal. Seek out your Gyno if that’s what’s up with your partner(s) you’re having sex with right now. Seek out an additional Pelvic Floor specialist who treats this pain too. As well as seeking out Sex Therapy in Minneapolis is going to be helpful as well!
