I’m a sex therapist, coach, consultant, and holistic healer working in Minneapolis, MN. I’ve done the agency setting thing, group practice, and then moved into being my own boss. Business coaching services are ones that may range and change depending on the person.
Here’s what I honestly have to say about the business coaching and mentoring world and language, fuck the scripts we’ve heard about asking, “ideal client,” saying, “I’m charging my worth,” the infamous, “roadmaps,” people trying to be sneaky and “pick your brain,” rather than pay and invest in you. As a business coach, I don’t do that shit. I ask, don’t assume, that you only work with one “client avatar,” let’s be honest, there’s probs more than one. I help plan, share, and educate, that it’s not about charging your worth, it’s about a business plan that sets you up for success. I call bullshit when business coaches give you a roadmap to starting your private practice because everyone is going to look different, and for most people, it’s not only seeing clients for therapy and coaching services. A lot of times there are more creative ideas behind that and I want to help you create the private practice you’ve always dreamed of owning. Lastly, I challenge you to set healthy boundaries with people who are trying to steal your time, energy, and even your soul when it comes to using and abusing your brain, knowledge, and time you’ve invested in yourself and your business.

When I’ve spoken to other therapist colleagues when they’ve invested in business coaching with someone who isn’t a therapist, they’ve shared with me they’ve become frustrated because they do not understand the ins and outs of what we do. On top of that feeling frustrated because that therapist is educating that coach on what we can/cannot do in our field. Kind of like a client educating you on race, gender, sex, fatphobia, ability, etc. and that’s pretty fucked up and not what we want our clients to do am I right?? How soon should I seek out business coaching as a therapist?
The sooner the better! Business coaching with a therapist who’s opened up their private practice, grown their work beyond clients, and been consistent is huge!! If you’re reading that and like damn, I’m just having trouble getting clients, then business coaching with a therapist is for you. Honestly, when I started my private practice, I worked my ass off. I hired coaches to help me explore how to build and then did a shit ton of research outside of that on what’s next for me. I am a goal-getter, dreamer, healer, and feeler. The biggest lesson I learned when I was worried about investing in coaching was, will it be worth it? I can say abso-fucking-lutely. I felt lost, scared, and worried did I make a huge mistake?
